Virtual Eggs Test (VET)
The test provides a baseline for evaluating the dexterity of upper limb, sensorimotor coordination and the effectiveness of prosthesis combined with sensory feedback devices.
The Virtual Eggs Test (VET) replicates gripping action and positioning of a breakable3 object. The test consists of small cubes with a mechanical fuse can break when subjected to a specific grip strength. The subject must transfer the cubes without breaking them, overcoming a barrier of 15 cm in height. The final rating is calculated based on the number of cubes moved from side to side, and the percentage of broken cubes in 1 minute.
Pick and Lift Test (PLT)
The Pick and Lift Test (PLT) provides an evaluation for a sensorimotor coordination and for learning and integration of sensory feedback strategies. The test replicates gripping action, lifting and repositioning of objects and consists of a hard plastic box block, equipped with two load cells that measure the normal components of the gripping force exerted by two fingers opposition of the prosthesis. A third load cell is placed at the base of the object so as to measure the weight of the object itself when it is placed on a surface.
The sequence of the test is the following:
- Movement of right/left arm to reach the object with the prosthesis;
- Grasp of the object;
- Lifting of the object (about 2 cm);
- Repositioning of the object;
- Release of the object.
